As the weather gets warmer, our thoughts as homeowners often turn to those projects we want to get done over the summer months. Whether you are thinking about installing new roofing, siding, insulation, an addition, or all of the above, you want to plan ahead and make sure you do your projects in the right order. That’s because you can actually add more costs to your projects by doing them in the wrong order.
As an insulation company, we can tell you that if you are planning to install insulation at some point in the future, whether it be now or later, or even if insulation isn’t on your current agenda, you want to make sure to insulate before doing certain projects.
Why? A couple reasons….
First, you want to achieve thermal integrity in your home by creating a seal of the building’s envelope to diminish drafts and maintain optimal heating and cooling. The best way to do this is by insulating the walls, roof and basement before performing other work in those areas.
Second, to install insulation, we typically need to cut into the siding, roofing, plaster, paint, etc., which you don’t want us to do if there are new materials installed. That’s where the added costs of poor timing could come in.
Any time is the best time to insulate your home and achieve greater energy efficiency and cost savings, but if you are planning any home improvements this summer, you want to take the opportunity to insulate NOW. .
We’ll coordinate the timing of your projects so you don’t have to!
We are happy to work as a team with all your contractors to ensure all your projects are done in the right order. We often work closely with roofers, plasterers, painters, etc. on the insulation installations we do and will collaborate with them to ensure we keep your costs down and finish work in a timely manner.

Hot Tip:
By well-insulating your home when you remodel or put on an addition, the resulting money you save on energy can go toward the cost of the remodel/addition.
Cool Fact:
If installed properly, insulation lasts the life of your home. The upfront investment may be 5 figures but you get a ROI in 5-6 years due to energy savings that will continue for years to come.
