One question we at Dolphin are frequently asked is, “How do I know if my house needs insulation?” This may seem like an easy question, but here are some things you may not have considered.
There are several telltale signs that your home needs insulation:
- If you are starting to feel cold in your home, or worse, you are feeling drafts, this may mean you have poor insulation (or no insulation at all). Poor insulation is one of the leading causes of drafts in the home. If you have done other work to the home, such as replacing windows, but you still have drafts, it’s a clear sign you need insulation.
- If your roof has ice dams, this is a clear sign that you need insulation. You’ll need to call a professional to have them assess the need for insulation. By having the cellulose insulation installed properly, you can prevent ice dams.
- If you have rooms in your home that are colder than others, or you don’t have a uniform temperature throughout the home, then you may need insulation. This problem can occur in both the winter and in the summer.
- During the summer months, if you are using air conditioning or other cooling methods, but it continues to stay warm, you may be a candidate for new insulation. Some homes may start off cool in the morning but after a long day in the sun become difficult to cool, that’s a sign that your home needs proper insulation.
Cellulose insulation goes a long way in keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. That’s why we only install cellulose.
